A Day to Support Local Businesses

On Saturday, April 27th, Spink County residents gathered to celebrate the third annual Shop Spink Day, a countywide shopping event to support local businesses. This particular day brought families and friends together to explore the unique offerings of our community's stores, enjoy special sales and promotions, and participate in exciting giveaways.

In-Store Specials and QR Code Scavenger Hunt

Participating businesses across Spink County offered enticing in-store specials and sales, encouraging shoppers to purchase and enjoy great deals. Most businesses adhered to their usual Saturday hours, making it convenient for everyone to join in the fun. Shoppers were encouraged to scan a QR code at each store they visited, which entered them into hourly prize giveaways. An in-store purchase was required to scan the QR code, adding an element of adventure to the shopping experience.

Grand Prize and Hourly Giveaways

One of the highlights of Shop Spink Day was the chance to win the grand prize. Shoppers who visited and purchased at least five participating businesses were entered into a grand prize drawing, with the winner announced on Monday, April 29th. This year, the grand prize was $500 in Redfield Chamber bucks, a significant incentive that added excitement to the day's events. Additionally, hourly prizes were given away from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., creating a continuous buzz throughout the day.

Live Broadcasts and Business Participation

Local radio station KQKD 1380AM partnered with Grow Spink to host the event, providing live updates, business specials, and prize announcements throughout the day. Shoppers tuned in to stay informed and maximize their chances of winning. This year, 23 businesses participated, offering unique deals, giveaways, and activities. From gift basket giveaways to product discounts and taste testing, businesses showcased their creativity and community spirit.

Encouraging Community Engagement

Grow Spink's Executive Director, Gianna Schieffer, shared, "This event is free for businesses to participate in as long as they offer a deal/sale or giveaway during the event. We had a good variety of businesses, and they were very creative with what they offered on the event day. Some did gift basket giveaways, some did discounts on specific products, and some did taste testing and samples of products. We had 369 total scans that day. We hope this event will show the importance of supporting our local businesses, which leads to a thriving community."
